U.S. booked air volume and U.S. T&E decreased 8 percent and 6.3 percent, respectively, compared with 2006. In 2007, the company transitioned from GetThere to Cliqbook in North America and reached a 68 percent adoption level. Its online adoption in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, where online booking fees are 50 percent less than offline, is at 76 percent using Amadeus E-Travel. BearingPoint’s goal is to achieve a 90 percent adoption rate in all countries where a self-booking tool is in use. It has had considerable success in Asia/Pacific, notably an 89 percent adoption rate in China using American Express’ proprietary tool, and in Australia, where it has a 70 percent adoption level. The travel team is evaluating implementing online programs in India, New Zealand and Singapore. The corporate card program, encompassing 14,425 cardholders, underwent a global bid and again was awarded to American Express. The EMEA meetings program underwent a bid process and now is handled by Carlson Wagonlit Travel. This year, the travel team is enhancing the meetings payment process and evaluating a meetings program in Asia/Pacific. BearingPoint is focusing on process automation, such as notifying travelers of unused tickets, maximizing use of nonrefundable tickets and enhancing its management information systems portfolio with such tools as Amex’s automated ticket tracker. Other initiatives included enhanced tracking of key performance indicators on a global basis, the introduction of a revamped corporate travel intranet and the completion of an annual survey of meeting and travel services. This year, the company plans to automate the procurement of lodging requirements for extended stay projects. It also is installing Amex’s Pre-Trip Auditor automated authorization system. Its U.S. expense reporting system is transitioning from Timenx+ to Deltek. SAP is used outside of the United States. booked air volume for plastics, chemicals and agricultural products producer Dow Chemical Co. increased by onethird in 2007 from 2006. Having used the ResX online booking tool in previous years, Dow in 2007 selected Cliqbook as its new supplier. It began implementing the tool in the first quarter of 2008. Although it is a decision made outside of the travel department, Dow also is switching its corporate card supplier to a Citibank-issued product from its Bank of America-issued product. Following a strategic assessment, Dow also updated its intranet travel page last year. The company continues to review and assess its program this year. Dow’s travel program remains stable, with Advito managing its global hotel program for the past four years. It maintains a separate department for meetings, for which the travel department negotiates air. Dow also maintains a fleet of corporate-owned aircraft. Travel in North America is consolidated under BCD Travel. Internationally, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, American Express and HRG all handle portions of Dow’s travel needs. NEWS CORP. During the year, the company implemented a global hotel program, renegotiated several airline agreements and increased online adoption of its GetThere online booking tool to 91 percent. HRG is the consolidated agency in the United States, where it has 17,500 travelers who primarily use the American Express corporate card. BCD Travel and American Express Business Travel handle some TMC services abroad. The company currently is in a global agency bid process to consolidate its travel program. In addition, News Corp. plans to move to an automated T&E system, mandate its new global hotel program and further consolidate its preferred hotel properties. The media conglomerate has embarked down the carbon footprint reduction path as it aims to become carbon neutral by 2010. In September 2007, the company began disclosing its carbon output.
