The company in 2007 increased its online adoption to an average of 74 percent across all business units. In the third quarter of 2006, the company changed its booking tool in North America to Cliqbook. Caterpillar also increased preferred hotel compliance. Caterpillar uses BCD Travel as its travel management company in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Outside North America, the company mainly uses HRG through its ongoing global BTI contract. Caterpillar uses Visa as its primary corporate card vendor worldwide and uses an in-house expense reporting system. >>Viacom's U.S. booked air volume rose by $7 million in 2007 from 2006. Just under half of that volume belongs to Paramount. The rest belongs to Viacom Corporate, MTV and BET. In 2007, Paramount selected BCD Travel as its travel management company. HRG continued serving as the travel management company for the rest of Viacom, which this year issued a request for proposals for travel management company services. Travel management services were split between BCD, HRG and Travel by Appointment in the United Kingdom. Galileo is the company's primary U.K. global distribution provider. Elsewhere, the firm used a mix. Plans for the non-Paramount part of Viacom this year include selecting a travel management company and integrating programs across multiple companies of the conglomerate. It also is making policy changes, pending senior management reviews and approval of recommendations. American Express remained Viacom Corporate and MTV's primary card vendor in 2007. Paramount had GE MasterCard as its primary card vendor. For online booking tools, Paramount uses Cliqbook. MTV and BET have been using GetThere, which the divisions plan to evaluate later in the year. Merging the two travel programs has continued into 2008, as Boston Scientific is combining the two separate travel policies into a single entity and consolidating U.S. travel management company services. In 2007, American Express served as Boston Scientific’s primary travel management company in the United States, but only with 52 percent of its volume. Boston Scientific has pushed online booking, raising adoption of its GetThere tool to 38 percent of applicable transactions in the United States, 85 percent of which are touchless. Boston Scientific’s European sales and distribution division, meanwhile, in 2007 deployed an integrated self-booking tool and expense management solution, introduced by KDS in 2006, throughout Europe. >>ConocoPhillips last year saw a slight uptick in its U.S.-booked air volume from $48 million in 2006. The company’s travel department last year focused on increasing its compliance measurements, while maintaining or improving discount levels with preferred suppliers. The energy company continues down that path this year and also plans to put in place a global traveler-tracking service. American Express serves as the company’s primary travel management company in the United States and in other countries, with Scandinavian travel management company Via Travel and U.K.based Capita Business Travel providing travel management services in some other regions. ConocoPhillips’ preferred charge card is a MasterCard issued by JP Morgan. The company does not have a meetings policy in place, though plans are underway to explore one.
