Its consolidated U.S. agency is American Express, which along with Carlson Wagonlit Travel handles 98 percent of Cargill’s non-U.S. travel spending. After conducting a full travel management company request for proposals during the previous year, Cargill decided that it would maintain its existing global agency infrastructure for the next few years. Privately held Cargill used American Express as its corporate card provider for the 21,000 cardholders among its 158,000 employees worldwide. Cargill’s travel program without a mandate increased its U.S. online adoption rate to nearly 50 percent using ResX as its preferred selfbooking tool, with a touchless transaction rate in the high 80-percent range. Last year, the company revised its global corporate travel policy to provide more consistent goals and general standards for compliance, while allowing various business units to have the latitude to determine and enforce their own compliance levels. Cargill for the past several years has leveraged its consolidated U.S. meetings program with its transient business travel program. The company has been encouraging employees to use alternatives to travel and has invested in videoconferencing facilities. Cargill processes 97 percent of its global expense volume through one expense reporting tool, Expense Express, supplied by Adsoft. Credit card items are prepopulated in the expense reporting system. The company this year plans to implement online hotel folio data. THE CORPORATE TRAVEL ter levels and will review its current travel agency contract for extension or new bidding. The United Nations this year also plans to review its current business practices and effect policy changes prior to the implementation of an enterprise resources planning system in 2010. American Express is the travel service provider for the U.N. Secretariat in New York.
