That approach is facilitated by GE’s GDS relationship with Sabre and consolidated Carlson Wagonlit Travel reservations centers in Warsaw and Beijing. The company has achieved 90 percent adoption of expense accounting using its homegrown solution in the United States and the Concur tool in Europe and Asia. In 2007, it further consolidated its global expense account processing. Part of the impetus for that is improved hotel data. The focus of the effort, which was developed internally using Business Objects software, is not on enhancing sourcing but on driving compliance. The company implemented an agent “on-call” initiative with BCD Travel, its consolidated U.S. travel management company, to ensure consistent answering service levels during inclement weather. The travel team continues to support its contract commitments through the use of pre- and post-trip audit programs, reviewing live reports of non-preferred carrier use, class-of-service violations and non-employee bookings on an employee’s itinerary. This year, Deloitte is exploring ways to green its travel program and enhance its online booking capabilities. At year-end 2007, the company had a 49 percent online booking adoption rate using a Travelport self-booking tool.
