Incentive - February 2008 - (Page 45) Here & Now What’s New: Golf 2008 By Edward Schmidt, Jr. The latest and greatest golf products are introduced annually at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla., which features 10 miles of show aisles and 1,250 exhibitors. Here’s a sampling of what’s new for 2008: Heavy Putter C-2 DF The DF, or Deep Face Series is the newest line of innovative putters from innovative designer Steve Boccieri. The Deep Face technology raises the center of gravity, or “CG,” by combining innovative design elements with a one-quarter-inch increase in the height of the putter face. By raising the CG, the sweet spot on the face more closely aligns with the equator of the golf ball. Like the original Heavy Putter, the C-2 DF is roughly double the weight of a conventional putter—overall weight is 850 grams. C o n t a c t : (888) PUTTER4 w w w. h e av y p u t t e r. c o m year. This year’s collection features three styles: Strive, Impression and Prowl. All feature high-performance, golf-specific lenses along with the customer’s choice of a small pink or black custom handbag, which includes a black microfiber soft case for storage and cleaning. Sundog Eyewear and cases can be customized with corporate logos. Its new Wedge top accommodates popular hybrid clubs; 10 pockets include special storage for cutting-edge tech equipment in a fleece-lined space; and an innovative “Isolation Chamber” buffers wet gear from dry. Looking deeper, the Exodus includes dedicated storage for divot tools, umbrellas, towels, tees, and of course cigars. Fina may have a better idea. On January 8th, the sterling silver and fine-gift company delivered its 500th New Arrival Gift. The New York–based company’s New Arrival program recognizes the birth of an employee’s baby, with one of several elegant and personal gifts. While thousands of New Arrival gifts have been sold since the early 1960s, T January’s milestone specifically celebrates the success of the company’s corporate incentive arm. “We realized what the impact was on the employee, and how good it made them feel,” says Jeffrey Fina, vice president of Michael C. Fina. “The fact that they were getting a gift on such a monumental event in their life, that the organization they work for recognizes them for that, really has a positive value.” The New Arrivals Program offers a choice of six sterling silver gifts including a feeding spoon, boys’ or girls’ comb and brush set, picture frame, cup and rattle. These are engraved with the child’s name and accompanied with a congratulatory card, signed by the company president or the employee’s supervisor. Michael C. Fina recommends these gifts as a way to make a lasting impression on valued employees. Considering the importance that this sense of connection and personal engagement to a company has on worker satisfaction and retention, the New Arrival program seems likely to reach 500 more new parents soon enough. —Alex Palmer incentivemag.com | February 2008 | Incentive | 45 http://www.sundogeyewear.com http://www.heavyputter.com http://www.ogio.com http://www.incentivemag.com
