Is the economy recovering? Perhaps. That could explain the increase in entries in this year’s K+BB Product Innovator Awards. At 112, the eld of contenders expanded by 40 from last year and made for some energetic discussions among our esteemed judges. As always, products were evaluated based on four criteria: originality, aesthetics, functionality and consumer appeal. However, this year, per the judges’ request, entrants were asked to provide pricing information, which helped shape their nal decisions. And what did they decide? Read on to nd out… Stimmel has won more than 30 national design awards, including multiple “Kitchen of the Year” honors from several sources, including K+BB Magazine. Inc., has designed kitchen interiors and other rooms for nearly 20 years in Long Island, NY, and the New York metro area. The winner of several national design awards, Serra is widely published in national shelter magazines, authors the blog www.thekitchendesigner.org and serves as a go-to source for kitchenrelated information for consumer magazines, websites and top design blogs. carpenter with more than 40 years in the industry. He specializes in 18th-, 19thand 20th-century traditional homes and creating designs that combine OldWorld charm with 21st-century technology. Famous for taking his clients shopping in a super-stretch limousine, he is most known for his work in Connecticut and New York City.
Jamie Gibbs is principal of New York-based interior design and landscape architecture rm Jamie Gibbs and Associates, which has branch of ces in Indianapolis and Amsterdam, the Netherlands. His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, House Beautiful, Forbes and House and Garden. Gibbs has authored two design books, participated in more than 50 designer showcases and created products for various companies.
Charles M. Rabinovitch is principal of the eponymous architecture rm in New York City and a graduate of the City University of New York and Cornell University. He has been responsible for the design of numerous residential and commercial projects completed during more than 25 years of practice in the metropolitan New York area, as well as elsewhere in the U.S. and abroad. His work has appeared in several national design magazines.
David Stimmel is principal of Ambler, PA-based Stimmel Consulting Group, Inc., which specializes in kitchen, bath, custom millwork and product design. His work has been featured in more than 50 publications, as well as HGTV, DIY Network and This Old House.
John Buscarello, ASID, is principal of John A. Buscarello Inc., an interior design rm in New York City. His work has been published in numerous books and publications, including The New York Times, House Beautiful, Country Living and Woman’s Day: Kitchens and Baths. He has also appeared on HGTV and Bloomberg TV’s Report on Kitchens. In 2003, Buscarello was named a “Kitchen & Bath Design Leader” by Interior Design. He is a graduate of Adelphi University.
Miriam Lissak is founder and president of Weinreb Schultz Deisgn Associates and MWL Designs in New York City. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, she began her career as a design assistant to the late Angelo Donghia. Her rm’s portfolio covers a wide range of designs and installations from residential to corporate commercial, specialty retail, tness/spa facilities, furniture, landscaping and oral design. Lissak has been published in Architectural Digest, K+BB Magazine, Interior Design and New York Daily News. She is also the recipient of several national awards and participated in many Tri-State show houses.

Roberta Kravette, LEED AP AKBD, is principal of Nieuw Amsterdam Kitchens in New York City and a sustainable kitchen consultant for the design trade, as well as eco-minded homeowners. She began her design career in Moscow, where she founded a project management rm specializing in interior renovation, design and t out of both residential and commercial spaces. This year, she presented at SICI, a kitchen and bath trade show in Madrid, Spain, where she spoke on “Building Kitchens in American Cities.” Kravette will soon be providing tips and answering questions on her blog, Green Kitchens by Design.
