I had been riding on and off for years. It was August. I knew what to expect, right? By the time I returned to Chicago, I was enlightened. Even in August, it’s cold at 60 miles per hour. On a long trip, it is going to rain and you are going to get really wet. Flat tires are a real problem when you don’t carry a spare. And motels with a laundry and a pizza parlor can be the highlight of your day. So, what does this have to do with KBIS? As an industry professional, you know what to expect at KBIS, right? My job is to exceed that expectation and leave you enlightened, just as I was after that trip around the lakes. We have started the journey to energize the KBIS experience and brand. We are pleased that Kohler has made a multi-year commitment to KBIS through 2013. We are also delighted that Sub-Zero, Poggenpohl, Aga/ Marvel, Capital Cooking, ALMO and Liebherr are joining fellow industry leaders for the 2012 show in Chicago. At KBIS 2012, you will see better use of technology, more focus on energy and emotion, and a commitment to improve the value of your overall experience and investment. And we hope to help you see and touch the future of the kitchen and bath industry. My friends know that nothing ever moves fast enough for me. I do, however, recognize that positive change takes time, and our plan to fully develop the KBIS brand will be a multi-year effort. In the next 24 months, you will see KBIS expand beyond a three-day experience to include regional promotional events, ongoing easy access to everything kitchen and bath, charitable opportunities, KBIS social community development and an increased emphasis on a KBIS digital experience. Our commitment is to exceed your expectations and leave you enlightened. That journey starts in Chicago in April 2012 and continues with the 50th anniversary of the NKBA in New Orleans at KBIS 2013.
