Stainless steel continues to be the top consumer request, prompting more manufacturers to add it to interiors as well. Jason Silverstein, design manager at Kenmore, doesn’t see the stainless trend slowing down, but does anticipate a resurgence of white appliances in the near future. “White has become pretty popular in kitchen remodels and cabinetry,” he said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we started to see an uptick in white sales not only for appliances, but especially dishwashers.” At a time when technology seems to be advancing faster than we can scrape our dinner plates, a little nostalgia might be refreshing. The line also features a Steam Clean prewash cycle, which rehydrates dried and baked-on soils for improved wash performance. Miele’s Futura Series features a patented 3D Cutlery Tray, which can be adjusted according to the height, width and depth of kitchen tools. The tray is divided into sections so it can easily slide from side to side, allowing the middle basket to accommodate large kitchen utensils like ladles or whisks. Kenmore’s Elite dishwashers (Model 1404) incorporate an integrated, color LCD control that has been simplified to be more intuitive and less overwhelming.
