SHOW DIRECTOR'S NOTE Making the most of your KBIS experience Over the years I have noticed just how much emphasis we all place on the show floor experience - what brands will be present, who has a big product launch, what new innovations are coming to market, who is the keynote, etc. This is why we go to trade shows. Not only do you want to walk away inspired, but let's be honest, we all want to see the latest and greatest innovations before everyone else. As you are making your plans to attend KBIS in just a few short weeks, I would encourage you to take full advantage of everything that KBIS, Design & Construction Week and Las Vegas have to offer. Here are just a few things you might consider adding to your itinerary. Voices From the Industry Sessions - For the first time at KBIS, 54 out of the 85 sessions will offer continuing education units (CEUs). Presentations will be led by industry peers covering a variety of current topics and trends. They will follow four of the NKBA's Learning Paths: Design & Inspiration, Focus on the Customer, Business Management and Sales & Marketing. State of the Industry Address - In this State of the Industry Address on February 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Francisco "Paco" Martinez-Cosentino, president of the Cosentino Group, will provide a worldwide perspective on today's kitchen and bath industry and changing global economies. Champagne & Cupcakes - Join BlogTour Las Vegas, media and bloggers, on February 4 at 10:00 a.m. in the Electrolux Booth #N3005 as they kick off KBIS with a tweet-up. And in true Las Vegas style, the event will be catered with champagne and cupcakes. Open Auditions - HGTV and DIY Network are always looking for new people with the right skills and personality to host their TV shows. If you have what it takes, this is your chance to be discovered! HGTV and DIY Network will hold network-wide open auditions at KBIS 2014 at the NKBA Center Stage booth N2163. The schedule is: * Tuesday, February 4th: 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. * Wednesday, February 5th: 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. * Thursday, February 6th: 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. The Party - Hosted by the NKBA, this event is the perfect occasion to enjoy an exotic waterfall location and connect with peers and friends from the industry at large! Join us February 3 at Tryst Nightclub, Wynn Las Vegas, at 7:30 p.m. The BASH - As a thank you to all Design & Construction Week attendees, the NKBA will host a BASH February 5 from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at XS Nightclub, Wynn, Las Vegas. Revel in this elegant club environment and dance the night away to foot-tapping party numbers. IBS Spike Concert - Tease your hair, break out the black leather pants and torn fishnets, and enjoy a private concert with four-time Grammy winner and rock-n-roll superstar Pat Benatar. Doors open at the LVCC February 6 at 5:00 p.m., so come early and grab a drink! I would also encourage you to enjoy all that this unique destination has to offer. Take a customer or an old friend to dinner at any of the hundreds of restaurant options on the strip. For those who prefer shows or concerts, check out one of the eight Cirque du Soleil shows currently playing or any of the well-known headliners and other acts that frequent Las Vegas.
