Gleneagles Resort Unveils Spa, Suites, & Dog School Perthshire, Scotland—The famed Gleneagles golf resort has been in the midst of an $11-million renovation that will culminate this spring with the Spa at Gleneagles by ESPA. It is part of a long-term modernization plan costing $36 million. Featuring 20 treatment rooms, the spa is a partnership between the www.meetingnews.com resort and spa products and services company ESPA. Themed treatments will be offered, such as Golfers Tonic and the Scottish highlands-invoking Clansman, in addition to Heat Experiences, which features both sauna and steam rooms. The spa will have both pre- and post-treatment amenities, too. The spa will join a host of recently introduced features at the resort. Beginning last summer, Gleneagles introduced 10 Spirit Suites, which are ultra luxurious two-bedroom suites on the top floor of the resort’s hotel, featuring air-conditioning, living areas, bathrooms with baths and showers, LCD TVs, and DVD players. In Gundog School, groups can learn how to handle the resort’s Labrador retriever hunting dogs. Gundog School joins Gleneagle’s list of heritage activities like falconry, clay-target shooting, and equestrian—besides iconic golf and tennis. Gleneagles also has introduced buffet dining with the 200-seat Deseo, which “recreates a traditional Mediterranean food hall.” “This marks an exciting period for Gleneagles, whereby we have put a modern twist on a classic,” said Patrick Elsmie, managing director.
