International Radisson Adds Three in South America, Faces Off with Meridien in Panama City Miami—Radisson Hotels & Resorts Latin America has opened the 105-room Radisson Decapolis Hotel Miraflores in Lima, Peru, and the boutiquestyle Radisson Hotel & Suites San Isidro, also in the city. Meanwhile, the 103-room Radisson Summit Resort and Spa, in Panama, is scheduled to open in December. Gerardo Camacho, general manager of both Peru properties, said they will serve a growing business destination. The San Isidro, with 35 suites and 69 guest rooms, is expected to compete for upscale corporate clients. Radisson is in talks to develop two more properties in the area. The Summit Resort and Spa, near Panama City, will be located adjacent to the Summit Golf Club, where a redesigned 18-hole golf course, restaurants, banquet facilities, and an upscale spa are being envisioned by the property’s owner. But it will have competition from a Le Meridien hotel set to open in mid-2009. The 118-room hotel, which will have views of the Bay of Panama and the Panama Canal, will have 4,000 sf of meeting space. It will represent the first Le Meridien in Central America for Starwood Hotels & Resorts. “One of the main goals for Starwood is to expand Le Meridien in Latin America,” said Ricardo Suarez, vice president of development for Starwood Latin America.
