Omni’s New Branded Spa Begins its Rollout Plan Omni Hotels has announced its own brand of upscale spas, Mokara, to meet—and draw profits from—the growing demands of individual and group travelers. The company says its current spas, many of which are owned by third-party operators, saw a 13-percent increase in revenues in 2007. The new Mokara brand is meant to raise the profile of Omni’s spas and create consistency among services. Each spa will feature four signature treatments inspired by the region in which the property is located. The first Mokara Salon & Spa debuted at the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas, near Dallas, late last November. This year, Omni will convert the spas at Omni Interlocken Resort, in Denver (by April 1), and Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate (third-quarter 2008), and open a new facility at a new hotel in Houston, near the Galleria mall (also third quarter). Additional Mokara spas will debut in Tucson, AZ, and Houston in 2009. r www.meetingnews.com Not responsible for meeting planners left unattended.
