His career began in marketing for the consumer products industry, after which Cohen made a successful transition into hospitality, serving as a senior VP with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, among other posts. In his last role, Cohen was president of marketing solutions for Dendrite International, an Internet marketing firm. ROY ASSAD Board Chairman, Palm Beach County CVB Roy Assad will apply his successful business skills to his new role as board chairman in Palm Beach County, FL, where there’s a $2.8-million tourism industry to challenge him. Assad will be leading up a 17member board, which in 2007 transitioned from a larger board to a small core group with increased involvement. He also serves as chairman of West Palm Beach’s Downtown Development Authority and on the advisory board of the Arthur Marshall Foundation for Everglades restoration. DAVID COLELLA Board of Directors Chairman Greater Boston CVB Native Bostonian Colella brings hometown enthusiasm to his new role as 2008 chairman of the board of directors for the CVB. He currently serves as vice president and managing director of the Colonnade Hotel, a 285-key luxury hotel in the city’s historic Back Bay district. Among Colella’s many achievements is his recent “2008 Restaurateur of the Year” award by the Massachusetts Restaurant Association. NANCY DEBROSSE Vice President Experient DeBrosse will be working from the Washington, DC, office for Experient, an integrated meeting and event solutions firm, relying on her 20 years of industry experience that includes sales, marketing, and operations. She also serves as the DC Chapter chair for the International Association of Exhibitions and Events, and is 2008 president elect for the Capital Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association. TODD GREENWOOD VP of Convention Center Sales and Mkg. Greater Springfield CVB Greenwood hopes his 18 years’ experience and athletic passions will help him elevate events at the MassMutual Center to a new level. Former marketing manager with the Indianapolis CVB, he’s also worked for the Greater Columbus CVB and in the booming Miami hotel market, the NCAA Hall of Champions and Conference Center, and on the committees for such events as NCAA Final Four and the Indianapolis 2011 Super Bowl bid. BOB BEDELL President and CEO Indianapolis CVB Plans for a June 2008 retirement have been announced for Bob Bedell, who has led the Indianapolis CVB (IACVB) since 2002. Prior, Bedell served as senior vice president, from 1986 to 1993, and in between headed up the St. Louis CVB as president and CEO. Upon his return to the IACVB, he spearheaded the campaigns for an expansion of the Indiana Convention Center, future addition of its headquarters hotel, and construction of the Lucas Oil Stadium, among other accomplishments. Bedell leaves the CVB on a good note, with the bureau already ahead of booking for October 2010 and beyond. SONIA FONG Director of Convention Sales Greater Miami CVB Fluent in English, Spanish, and Chinese, Fong spent the past two years working for the Greater Miami CVB in Europe working to introduce the Miami brand to the Chinese market. She’ll likely bring the same enthusiasm to her new role in the Miami office. She will oversee citywide association and corporate business from the Washington, DC, and Chicago-area markets. JOSEPH PALMIERI General Manager Hilton AmericasHouston The 1,200-room Hilton Americas-Houston, which is connected to the George R. Brown Convention Center by skywalk, has a new GM: Joseph Palmieri, who has 33 years’ management experience to bring to his new role.
