resort showcase Radisson St Martin Resort, Marina & Spa St. Martin, West Indies A sophisticated Caribbean oasis awaits groups this summer. Currently undergoing an $80 million transformation, the reborn Radisson St Martin Resort, Marina & Spa will throw its doors open in August 2008, bringing a new level of luxury to the French side of the Caribbean island of St. Martin. The 63-suite and 189-guest room property embraces 1,600 feet of sandy beach in the secluded cove of Anse Marcel. All rooms will have private balconies or terraces, flat-screen satellite television, iHome radios, DVD players, and free highspeed Internet. Rooms are located in a spread of low-rise buildings, punctuated with pool and garden areas. The resort will feature more than 7,500 square feet of meeting and event space, with multiple function rooms, and outdoor areas on 18 acres of grounds. Executive Chef Bruno Brazier will create customized Caribbean beachfront barbecues or a Champs Elysees bistro for groups, and will also host local rum tastings or culinary excursions through restaurant-rich Grand Case. Planned theme parties will include the Tropical White Night Gala, for elegance on the beach; Bubbleq will pair champagne and fireworks with barbecued dishes; and the Colorful Caribbean Festival will be a customized, islands-themed event. Hotel restaurants will include the upscale seaside C Le Restaurant, serving CaliforniaFrench cuisine al fresco; the casual market-style eatery Le Marché; and a lobby tapas bar. Hotel chefs will also prepare private gourmet lunch for groups on one of the island’s secluded beaches. A zero-entry infinity pool, a full-service spa, the fitness center, and the 150-slip marina all add to the hotel’s appeal. Group teambuilding activities will run the gamut from mountain biking and canopy zip lines to a miniAmerica’s Cup Sailing Regatta and an island-wide scavenger hunt. Sailing lessons, deep-sea fishing, snorkeling, and other watersports will be available for groups, as is golf, a boat ride away at the Greg Normandesigned Temenos Golf Club on nearby Anguilla. Attendees can also zip over to chic St. Barths for shopping, or can hike on the rugged volcanic island of Saba.
