After leading the editorial team of MeetingNews through 16 issues, I am departing the publication. But I am so proud of the work that has been done in that time. With the dedication of a top-notch editorial and design team, MeetingNews has upped the ante for industry news coverage, timely research, Elizabeth West, and provocative feature stories that give meeting Exiting Editor-In-Chief planners the information they need to understand the pressures of their industry and to do their jobs better. I will truly miss being a part of that team. But there is a newsworthy item embedded in my departure. I am thrilled to announce that industry editorial veteran Terri Hardin has stepped up to the position of MeetingNews Editor-in-Chief. I know that she will lead the publication with the hard work and vision it takes not just to stay on top of events in the meetings industry but to identify their repercussions even before they are felt throughout the planning community. It is with excitement and anticipation that I pass the baton to such a professional. . . . . .Thanks, Elizabeth! Needless to say, we in the Nielsen Travel and Performance Group were dismayed at Elizabeth’s decision. I’ve worked with her for nearly a decade, and I can tell you: She was—and is—a star, and if I can do half the job she did, I will be happy. Having said that, I’m excited to begin this new chapter. For 11 years, I have been the Destinations Terri Hardin, Editor of Successful Meetings, MeetingNews’ sister Editor-In-Chief publication. Eleven years! In many ways, it was my dream job—traveling all over the world and getting to know the hospitality industry, which is comprised of some the nicest and most caring people anyone could encounter. Now, I get to head up one of the leading publications of this great industry at one of the most challenging times in our history. I can’t wait to get started!
