People Making News continued from page 7 Berlin, Zagreb, Bal Harbour and Turks and Caicos to upscale travel agencies and corporate accounts, along with some transient and group efforts. s In Reno, Rick Chapman, formerly of the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino, and Sean Schaeffer, owner of SilverVoyages.com, have formed CS Meetings Direct, a joint venture that focuses on providing third-party services for room procurement, site inspections, contract negotiations, convention services, catering, tradeshow and destination management, as well as golf and ski bookings. s Kathy Wooten has been appointed director of training by Benchmark Hospitality International. Ms. Wooten will be based at Benchmark’s home office in The Woodlands, located near Houston. Wooten will be responsible for spearheading the Benchmark University program, an employee educational curriculum. She will also oversee the training initiatives for all of Benchmark’s 5,200 employees worldwide. For the past five years, Wooten served as corporate marketing manager and corporate training manager for Omni Hotels. She has been employed in similar positions with Adam’s Mark Hotels and for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in Dallas. s Jason Ber man has joined Denihan Hospitality Group (DHG), the New Yorkbased hospitality management company, as senior director, brand marketing. Most recently, he was director, marketing and CRM at W Hotels Worldwide, where he spearheaded CRM, online, loyalty and partner marketing initiatives for W brand marketing and 23 W Hotels. In this position, he earned Starwood’s “2007 Marketing Innovator of the Year” award. While with Starwood, Berman was also senior manager of web initiatives for Starwood Preferred Guest. Berman will work with John Moser, chief marketing officer, on the continued expansion of DHG’s Affinia, Benjamin and James hotel brands. DHG operates six Affinia Hotels in New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C., The Benjamin in New York City, The James in Chicago, along with several independent hotels in Manhattan.
