The revised version contains new information on electronic poster presentations, an alternative to traditional displays that are often posted in PDF format on computers at health-care conventions. Further, the guidelines provide detailed advice on the organization and layout of scientific exhibits and poster displays, emphasize the different creative approaches for tabletop posters versus poster displays, and give recommendations for effectively presenting large amounts of data. Also highlighted are new advisories regarding regulations for displaying information in scientific exhibits. ASAE Releases Trends Repor t Written by Industr y Futurist The American Society of Association Executives & the Center for Association Leadership released a comprehensive report that it called an “environmental scan” at its annual meeting and exposition in San Diego in mid-August. Titled “Designing Your Future: Key Trends, Challenges, and Choices Facing Association and Nonprofit Leaders,” the report is the first in a series of resources and tools from the organization’s Association of the Future program. “Designing Your Future”identifies and examines no fewer than 50 trends that are likely to have a significant impact on associations and their members around the world in the next five to 10 years. It also provides an additional 100 trends that association and nonprofit executives should consider in their strategic planning—which include attracting and retaining members through more effective conferences and other media. Written by Rohit Talwar, CEO of London-based Fast Future Research, “Designing Your Future” groups the trends into five categories: socio-demographic, technological, economic, environmental, and political. It also contains detailed appendices that provide ideas on how to respond to the issues presented, along with workshop ideas and a scenario-planning map. The new publication is available for sale to both ASAE members and non-members.
