Meeting News - October 20, 2008 - (Page 4) Letters to the Editor CA Hotelier’s Donation Draws Ire from Groups Thank you for your recent cover article regarding the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego (Sept. 8 MN). I find it appalling, but not surprising, to read of the actions taken by Hazel Wiser of the Society of American Law Teachers and the alleged actions of some Unite Here! members. It is quite revealing that a representative of SALT thought it was professionally appropriate to ploy against the Hyatt because she disagrees with a personal viewpoint of John Manchester. It seems to me that Mr. Manchester, acting in a personal, not corporate capacity for what he believes is right, should be applauded by an organization affiliated with the profession of law. The unions and all the associations raising hell with the Hyatt forget the fact that the union workers at the hotel are hurt—and they aren’t working for Mr. Manchester. Not that the whiners care a whit. Michael Roccaforte Roccaforte LLC Carmel, IN In your story on the Hyatt, it appears that Mr. Manchester made a personal donation to the Protect Marriage Act.
