Tamares Group, which owns the Union Plaza in downtown Las Vegas, claims it has the rights to the Plaza name; the case should be decided by the end of the year. Rooms for Caesars Palace CityCenter Properties Get Advanced Guest Room Automation The Aria Resort & Casino; Harmon Hotel, Spa and Residences; and Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas will feature advanced guest room automation when they open as part of CityCenter late next year. Using technology found typically in highend custom homes, guests will have one-touch control of guest room lighting, temperature, TV and AV, draperies, wake-up calls, and services. Each room will have a nightstand with a touchscreen panel that navigates the same settings as the remote. All customized settings will be saved and recalled every time that that guest is in the room. Guests will also be able to select a “scene” to suit their preference or mood. For example, they can push the “good night” button next to the bed and the system will turn off the lights, TV and/or music, shut the curtains, and turn on privacy notification. The system also can wake guests gradually with preferred temperature, music, lighting, and time of curtain opening. The renovation portion of Caesars Palace’s $1 billion improvement project is finished, and the casino resort will unveil the facilities expansion part on schedule in 2009.
