Perspectives We All Need Love Hope you had a great Valentine’s Day. Goodness knows, the number of packages and Valentine’s deals that filled my in-box showed how much hotels wanted to share the love with all of us. Here at MeetingNews, we went looking for love in all the right places. We asked our readers questions about Americans with Disabilities Act compliance as part of a story on accommodating disabled attendees (cover), just as this issue is heating up— thanks to an amendment that went into effect this year. And, just as we were about to go to press with a story asking, “Where’s the love for the Cleveland Convention Center?” civic leaders stepped forward to announce that the city plans to break ground on a new convention center that will debut in 2013. Love was in the air at the Adrian Awards sponsored by Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International in late January. Koehl Award for lifetime achievement (p. 6). To return to MN’s Exclusive Research, I just want to say how much I love bringing attention to the subject of disability. About 12 years ago, at a Successful Meetings editorial staff meeting discussing the American with Disabilities Act, then-editor Andrea Welch remarked, “The ADA makes life better for everyone.” When I think of all the ramps, handles, and buttons that make maneuvering safer for everyone, I have to agree. But most importantly, the ADA benefits us by making our meetings more diverse and inclusive. Feel the love! Sadly, however, I must share that Richard Prestia, MN’s art director for 12 years, will be leaving the publication with this issue. For me, Rich’s patience, help, and graphic collaborations have made each issue special. Now that we must say goodbye, I’m sure I speak for everyone on staff when I say our love goes out to him.
