Project Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa New Vintage Wine country inspires a Marriott renovation By Stacy Rauen “With a nod to the regional beauty and the evolution of the Renaissance brand strategy, it was time to respect the tired bones of what exists while better aligning the hotel experience with what the Renaissance guest has come to expect,” says Karen Oldenburg, senior manager of interior design for Marriott International Design and Construction Services (MIDCS) of the recently renovated Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa. “Ultimately, this translated in maximizing the income potential for ownership while creating a revived space for the guest to enjoy.” That included a new arrival, lobby, bar area, retail market, and outdoor patio, all infused with a local flair. “The aesthetic was responsive to the very essence of Sonoma. It was intended to be sensual, natural, and comfortably chic,” says Oldenburg. Inspiration was invested in the reinterpretation of natural elements creating moments of curiosity and unexpected delights.” Above: A firepit warms outdoor seating at the Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort & Spa.
