Partner Profiles Arteriors Contract Arteriors recently launched a collection of more than 200 new products for its stock line, including additions to Laura Kirar’s collection of fashion-forward lighting, wall décor, accessories, and furniture. At HD Expo, the company is introducing a guestroom line designed for quick customization, with options to meet ADA and brand standards. And after a year in development, Arteriors will have a new website this summer, which Mark Moussa, founder, says will offer more functionality, including detailed item specifications and usability on mobile devices. Moussa is excited to see the industry picking back up. “It’s exciting to see new construction break ground in the US. We are motivated by the growth we’ve experienced in hospitality as well as other segments of our contract business.” But like most companies, a challenge for Arteriors is client expectations on lead times for custom product delivery. “Our product assortment includes a wide array of materials and finishes, some domestic but many international (as we have been doing for 25 years). This requires much coordination behind the scenes with factories producing many products by hand in order to accomplish the unique look. We are excited to launch our guestroom product line in an effort to reduce the time required for design and the product development process,” Moussa says. As a first-time corporate partner, he is excited to be more involved with NEWH. “We are proud to partner with an organization like NEWH— they support the design community like no other hospitality organization with its scholarship programs. NEWH also offers a platform of networking that enables us to develop relationships with designers outside of the day-to-day business setting.” Durkan Just in time for HD Expo, the carpet company is launching Durkan Now. “This is a pre-customized print program, that creates beautiful design and color options, preselected for quick delivery if our customers have the need for express service,” explains Lee Blair, global head of hospitality for Durkan. Durkan continues to expand its global footprint (the company just acquired Marazzi tile in Italy) and its corporate environmental initiatives, while growing its manufacturing assets and field sales talent. “Business has been steadily increasing; we are now in our third year of growth. Our sales grew by 33 percent from 2010-2012, and 2013 is seeing a sharper increase in sales through first quarter,” explains Blair. “It has been refreshing to attend industry events and see the positive atmosphere and liveliness. It harkens us back to the 2007 and 2008 years.” Blair is also excited to announce its Durkan Discover winners in collaboration with NEWH at HD Expo. “NEWH provides networking activities for our industry and allows us to engage in a friendly and supportive manner,” he says. “Most importantly, NEWH provides much needed support for the up and coming talent that will soon become the next leadership in hospitality.” Fabricut Contract Fabricut Contract has a lot planned for this year. First up, the company is launching a new upholstery collection merchandised by color. Dubbed Contract Studio, it features more than 200 skus including high durability transitional large-scale patterns, medium-scale coordinates, and contemporary textures in five stories—vibrant blue, classic gold, elegant green, luxurious red, and modern gray hues. But what Harvey Nudelman, president of Fabricut, is most proud of is expanding Fabricut’s FR-One line. “The fabrics are safer, more functional, beautiful, and affordable—key characteristics in our industry,” he says. “These fabrics undergo extensive testing in independent laboratories all over the world to ensure they meet the required standard in each country and guarantees that FR-One is the universal flameretardant standard. Plus, they are eco-friendly from their beginning to end.” And it’s a good time for the company to be expanding. Says Nudelman: “We definitely see the economy rebounding. We’re seeing more hotel refurbishing rather than new construction. Last year was a banner year for Fabricut Contract and this year is shaping up to just as excellent.” The challenge, though, he says, comes “in holding the spec when, unfortunately, many times our designs and fabrics are copied by companies who are not willing to make the investment in design resources or sales resources.” As for NEWH, he says: “NEWH represents the heart of our industry. The causes NEWH champions are as dear to Fabricut Contract as they are to them. NEWH provides a sense of belonging and an open forum to discuss any issues at any time and to have honest dialogue between suppliers and their organization.” Milliken Milliken’s newest introduction is Moment. Envision life’s memorable moments turned into photographic art, in an almost cinematic approach, finished off with a custom accent. The sustainable offering is available in broadloom and tile, and “colors and dimensions not typically seen in conventional carpet,” explains Bill Blackstock, business manager, hospitality business for Milliken. “From these photos, guests achieve an emotional connection within the property as they move from public to private spaces.” Sustainability means more to Milliken than just offering eco-friendly products. Milliken was named one of the 2013 World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute (the company’s seventh consecutive year of recognition); all of the company’s U.S. tile products have a third-party verified lifecyle analysis and environmental product declaration, and will qualify for additional points that can be used towards the updated LEED version 4; Milliken is certified as a carbon neutral manufacturer without purchased carbon credits; and through its Carpet Landfill Diversion program, Milliken manages the diversion process of its products by finding the highest form of recovery. “At Milliken, we fully 56 www.newh.org http://www.newh.org
