Passport - (Page P10) Destination Diary Europe Austria The 182,000-square-foot center plays frequent host to international meetings in 35 rooms that range from the imperial Festsaal, which can seat 1,260 theater style, to the Zeremoniensaal, the former Habsburg throne room, for banquets for up to 340. The complex is also home to some of Vienna’s other top sites, such as the Spanish Riding School, where groups can watch the famous Lipizzaners in action, and the world-class Kunsthistorisches Museum for a private tour or reception. When not being used for meetings and receptions, the center is also the playground for multiple balls, the mainstay of the social season. For upscale groups, a closing night ball might be just the ticket, especially if the evening starts off with waltz lessons to get everyone’s feet moving.
