Multiple historic sites are also celebrating anniversaries this year, including the Hampton Court Palace and the Tower of London, both celebrating the accession of Henry VIII to the throne, Kew Gardens celebrating its own 250th anniversary, and the Natural History Museum paying homage to Charles Darwin’s birth. In addition, the city is always on the lookout for new ways to showcase old favorites. Recent group events included a private welcome dinner for meeting attendees at the venerable Harrods Food Hall, tickets to see Cirque du Soleil at the historic Royal Albert Hall, and a champagne flight on the London Eye for a bird’s eye view of the city. With over 130,000 guest rooms, the choices can be a bit overwhelming, but this winter Visit London teamed up with major hotel chains throughout the city—including Radisson Edwardian, Europe London Successful Meetings/MeetingNews/Incentive / MARCH 2009 13 http://www.madeiraislands.travel
