But Scheer insisted that he was hardly alone within the mortgage industry when it comes to going the proverbial extra mile to give something back to the wider society. "We're seeing the industry start to do it more," he said of the mortgage profession's sense of altruism. "The mortgage industry was built because of its sense of community, but somewhere along the way, we forgot that we are about more than selling homes and rates and refinancing.
