Technical Services - Spring 2008 - (Page 7) lcoe TS’ Field Support Services Supports Navy Customer in a Variety of Hot Spots T echnical Services team members from Field Support Services (FSS) cover a lot of ground. These TS team members support the Navy’s “Nightwolves,” VAW77, with E-2C Hawkeye maintenance and quality assurance. Northrop Grumman delivers dedicated performance to this Navy squadron, which is deployed 180 days per year to countries in South and Central America performing counter-narcotics missions. The Nightwolves also support homeland defense missions, including Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in 2005. Based at Naval Air Station Atlanta, the Nightwolves fly four E-2C aircraft and are available daily to support any mission. Numerous drug traffickers have been arrested, aircraft and boats have been impounded, and several hundred million dollars in narcotics seized as a result of VAW-77’s dedicated flight crews and TS maintenance efforts. In accordance with Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) commission recommendations, the squadron is preparing to move to New Orleans this year and plans to be operational in September. TS team members are preparing to meet this challenge in addition to maintaining the planned detachment schedule in the months prior to relocation. Steven Hartman, VAW-77 commanding officer, recently expressed his appreciation to the TS team in writing: “I want to thank each of you for the hard work and dedication you’ve demonstrated getting our aircraft ready. When you look back at the amount of work that was done during the past 45 days, it is awe-inspiring. I am so very proud of the Northrop Grumman maintenance team and the great aircraft that you provide to the Nightwolf aircrew. You are truly the best in the world at maintaining and fixing Hawkeyes!” TS 1 2 3 4 1 2 TS team member Felix Mercado works on a Hawkeye.
