Technical Services - Summer 2008 - (Page 7) lcoe Missile Logistics Support Operation Up and Running After Successful Migration to Technical Services recently relocated to the Warner Robins Regional Service Center (WRRSC), and the U.S. Navy has now certified the relocated operation. This completes a nearly two-year transition that moved the operation from Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems in Baltimore, Md., to the WRRSC. The certification of the relocated operation represents a significant achievement in that it enables Technical Services to continue providing superior service to its customer throughout the Harpoon/SLAM’s life cycle. The U.S. Navy, Boeing and certain NATO allies still include the Harpoon/SLAM in their arsenals. Northrop Grumman is responsible for making the data process computer—an integral part of the launch system. “The first spares delivery for Boeing will occur shortly,” said TS Program and Transition Manager Jeff Good. “We also look forward to the upcoming Navy Harpoon Block III upgrade and supporting our customers’ logistics needs for years to come.” In addition, Good recognized Operations Manager Dean McDonald and his team at WRRSC for the excellent job they did installing old and delicate test equipment and ensuring it was properly functioning. The team resurrected certain portions of the previous work cell to build spares and perform repairs. Complicating the team’s efforts were the 30-year-old computers, the need to rewrite quality and security plans and the electronic transfer of test specifications and schematic drawings. “Now that we’re up and running, our mission is to continue demonstrating to our Navy customer that we’re committed to providing world-class logistics support,” said Good. “We’re starting off with a great reputation, and we plan to keep it that way.” TS H arpoon/SLAM (Stand-Off Attack Missile) is up and running!
