Ed Soriano assisted with the effort. Retired Col. Duane Hardesty, TS Outreach manager for Operation Impact, served as the event host. The purpose of the summit was to provide education on career opportunities in the homeland security and defense fields. Following the two-day educational summit, soldiers and their families visited the Northrop Grumman homeland security exhibit and spoke with program managers about career opportunities. The governor of Utah also recently honored the Operation IMPACT program with his Utah Freedom Award for outstanding contribution in support of wounded services members serving in the Global War on Terrorism. This year was the first for this award and marks the third time that Operation IMPACT has been recognized by federal and state leaders for its industry-leading model and example of providing career transition opportunities for our wounded service members and their families. Through Operation IMPACT (Injured Military Pursuing Career Transitions), TS sponsored an October symposium and summit in Colorado Springs, Colo., benefiting soldiers injured in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. A TS Homeland Security Solutions team from Colorado Springs hosted soldiers and family members from the Wounded Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Carson, Colo., organized under the auspices of Northrop Grumman’s Operation IMPACT program.
