For Brad Britt, TS military analyst and an Army Reserves colonel who recently returned from a one-year deployment to Iraq, these signs were tangible proof that the infusion of additional U.S. military strength into Iraq was proving effective at shoring up security. “When I was there last year, the attacks were down about 80 to 90 percent,” Britt said. “Those numbers are still holding up today.” His call-up and service in Iraq was from Jan. 7, 2007, to Dec. 22, 2007. Now working as a military analyst at Fort Knox, Ky., instructing soldiers at the Army’s armor center, Britt, who’s been with Northrop Grumman and its heritage companies since 1989, served as a team chief of the 2nd Iraqi National Police Division Transition Team while in Iraq. His mission was to provide leadership to four brigade-level training teams assigned to coach, mentor and provide logistics and operations support to Iraqi units in training. In all, 12 battalion-level teams worked alongside Iraqi security force units, which included the Iraqi Army and Iraqi national and local police elements. T Rob McNeal, an Information Technology sector employee in Virginia and lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve, was deployed along with Britt for the surge operations. Britt and McNeal both went through U.S. Army Transition Team training at Fort Riley, Kan., in 2006. McNeal served as team chief for the 1st Iraqi National Police Division Transition Team. Both men served more than eight years on active duty in the Army before joining the Army Reserve. “The Iraqi forces are getting stronger every day with our assistance,” said Britt. “The scale of our training efforts in that year was considerable (a division numbers 12,000-plus soldiers). But we also made other contributions while there, such as opening a new healthcare clinic and various outreach efforts.” TS Brad Britt (left) of Technical Services and Rob McNeal of Information Technology in military theater in Baghdad, Iraq.
