Notary Notes Magazine - DEMO - (Page 4) NOTARY NOTES From the President’s Desk Education Keeps Notaries in Business Notary Notes is Going Green D on’t worry. Notary Notes is keeping the favored blue colors of its print publication. However, we are following the trend to reduce paper usage (thus saving trees, oxygenating the atmosphere, preserving the environment and keeping our publication out of landfills) by offering Notary Notes in electronic format. If you opt to go green, you will receive an E-mail from PAN with a link to a PDF version of Notary Notes on PAN’s Web site, www.notary.org., in the Member Portal. One click will display your favorite notary publication, for viewing online or printing from your computer. We will also archive Notary Notes PDFs in the Member Portal of the PAN Web site so they will always be available. PAN believes this is the right thing to do for Mother Earth. We hope you think so, too. Please, go green with Notary Notes. How can you go green with Notary Notes? E-mail NotaryNotes@notary.org with “I want to go green!” in the subject line, or call 800-944-8790 to speak to a customer service representative. And you can change your mind at any time—simply E-mail or call us again. It’s that easy. Nearly every industry in the U.S. today requires or offers extra education for its workforce to maintain and update their skills. What about notarial education? I firmly believe there is no downside to getting more notary education. Customs and practices change over time. There are always new forms, procedures and interpretations of the law to learn. The Pennsylvania Association of Notaries (PAN) offered the first education for notaries in the United States in 1962. There was never any trouble filling those classes. And this was before education became mandatory in Pennsylvania. Those notaries wanted to learn. They wanted to be better at their jobs. I’m dedicated to helping states provide education for notaries. Regular education helps notaries stay informed of the executive, legislative and judicial decisions and rulings that affect notary public law. It enables notaries to be familiar with new forms and procedures and helps notaries avoid breaking the law through lack of knowledge. In my experience, notaries who have taken mandatory education are less likely to make the kinds of mistakes that lead to fines and lawsuits and loss of their commissions. If notaries regard themselves as professionals—as they should—they must also recognize the value of continuing education. You are a notary 24/7. Make sure you broaden your horizons with notary education. For the Association, PAN Can Help Member Businesses Do you need a title clerk? Is your mobile notary business for sale, or are you looking for an established notary business to purchase? PAN can help!
