:: MSU FEDERAL CREDIT UNION From their opening in 1937 operating out of a desk drawer in the Michigan State University Power Plant building to their present location on East Crescent Road in East Lansing, the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union has experienced many changes. Over the years, they have become the largest university-based credit union in the world. MSU federal credit Union is owned and operated by members of the Michigan State and Oakland University communities. They have over $1.4 Billion dollars in assets, and membership of 145,000. MSU federal credit Union was awarded the Society of Human Resources Management Top 25 Medium Sized Companies to work for in both 2006 and 2007. To accommodate its amazing success and continued growth, MSU Federal Credit Union purchased 33 acres of land to build an impressive new administration building and branch office along Coolidge Road in East Lansing. Christman is in the midst of a $12 million project to renovate the building, giving new life while honoring its historic elements. The Mutual Building Project is one of a handful in the area slated to be LEED certified, a standard for sustainable design by the U.S. Green Building Council. The Christman Company is further demonstrating its commitment to downtown by moving 50 of its headquarters employees to the Mutual Building once the construction is completed. :: THE WIELAND – DAVCO CORPORATION Don Wieland founded the Wieland – Davco Corporation in 1958 based on a few very simple principles. Don’s sons Craig and Scott have applied those principles and developed the Wieland – Davco Corporation into a nationally recognized ISO 9001 certified construction company. The Wieland-Davco Corporation has built facilities in 25 of the 50 United States and seven additional countries: Argentina, Bahamas, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, Jamaica and Mexico. When the time came to build a new corporate headquarters, Wieland- Davco stayed true to its roots in Lansing and has located its 60 corporate employees at the new facility on English Oak Drive. :: PECKHAM Since 1976, Peckham, Inc. has led the way in providing vocational training, assessment and rehabilitation for persons with barriers to employment in mid-Michigan. Today, Peckham, in conjunction with its community partners, now operates five different affirmative industries that provide a supportive work environment while delivering world-class products and services. Every employee at Peckham has a story of overcoming obstacles and becoming more successful while their customers speak of high quality performance. Peckham is in the midst of two exciting projects that will add 300 jobs in the region. First Peckham is expanding its passport related calling center, which has experienced phenomenal growth since opening in 2006. Peckham is growing in other ways as it looks to double its space near Capitol City Airport with a new headquarters and manufacturing complex. The 180,000 sq. ft. facility will allow Peckham to consolidate its Lansing based manufacturing operations, and add hundreds of jobs over the next decade. :: TECHSMITH CORPORATION TechSmith Corporation is investing $18 Million to build a new 100,000 sq. ft. headquarters building in Lansing creating close to 100 new hi-tech jobs. TechSmith’s business software tools enable users to capture, record and enhance digital content in multimedia formats. :: SPARTAN CHASSIS, INC. Spartan Chassis, Inc. recently completed a planned $14.5 million, 102,000 sq. ft. expansion for its fire truck chassis and cab operation. The expansion is needed to provide more room for each of the company’s three main product lines: emergency vehicles, military vehicles and motor homes. Spartan has received contracts for more than $50 million since 2005 to build chassis for armored military vehicles. Headquartered in Charlotte, Michigan, Spartan employs close to 650 people. :: THE CHRISTMAN COMPANY The Christman Company established its Lansing headquarters in 1915 and has continuously operated in that same building since that time. Christman offers a full range of construction services, including construction management, design build services and real estate development. The Christman name has been seen on some the regions most high profile construction projects. The Christman Company made a major commitment to downtown Lansing when it acquired the vacant 58,000 sq. ft. Mutual Building on North Capitol Avenue. :: DOWDING MACHINING The wind turbine and transmission housing manufacturer broke ground on an $8 million, 30,000 sq. ft. expansion that will add 200 new jobs.
