This will allow for the manufacture of new vaccine products resulting in the retention of 275 hi-tech, highly skilled jobs in our region with the great potential for future growth. The fast growing company, a subsidiary of BCBSM, will be creating up to 500 new jobs and has chosen the Board of Water & Light’s historic Ottawa Street power station to accommodate the growth. This project will help revitalize Lansing and will create good-paying jobs that will help revitalize Lansing’s economy and reinvigorate its downtown. REGIONAL NEW VACCINE PRODUCTS RESULTING IN THE RETENTION OF 275 HI-TECH, HIGHLY SKILLED JOBS IN OUR REGION WITH THE GREAT POTENTIAL FOR FUTURE GROWTH. :: GESTAMP US HARDTECH Gestamp US Hardtech is in the midst of completing a $74 million 200,000 sq. ft. expansion of its Mason headquarters and operations. The expansion is expected to create 150 new jobs directly by the company and an additional 198 indirect jobs. The expansion will support the growth of Gestamp’s automotive structural safety products. :: ACCIDENT FUND INSURANCE COMPANY OF AMERICA In a bold move that will awaken a slumbering giant on the Grand River, accommodate up to 500 new jobs for Lansing and further revitalize the downtown area, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan subsidiary Accident Fund Insurance Company of America will establish its new national headquarters in the Lansing Board of Water & Light’s Ottawa Power Plant. Accident Fund has been growing steadily since 1994 when it had less than 400 employees. By 2011, it’s expected to have 1,200 Michigan employees. :: HRU TECHNICAL RESOURCES The engineering contractor, in an effort to diversify into defense contracting, signed a $25 million deal to provide the Rock Island arsenal in Illinois with more than 40 engineers.
