We have an immediate need for a Communications Director to manage our PR activities and to develop the relevant business and consumer outreach relationships that will contribute to greater consumer and trade awareness of specialty foods. The Communications Director will: • Identify media and press opportunities that will build the NASFT, Fancy Food Shows and NASFT member products. • Create content, and pitching topics and products for articles and shows to various consumer and trade media to maximize the visibility of members and the Fancy Food Shows in the media. • Work closely with various national newspapers and business publications to provide relevant information on industry trends and the growth of the industry, through validating information and statistics, reporting on trends, providing quotes for articles, etc. • Develop a year-round media campaign to high light specialty food categories that tie-in with holidays, seasons, etc. i.e.Valentine’s Day, summertime grilling. • Act as the NASFT’s internal public relations agency by writing all press releases for the NASFT, the Fancy Food Shows, and all related programs, including Fancy Food Show Press Kits, by editing and writing promotional copy for Media Sales Special Projects, including advertorial inserts, calendars, maps, and online educational courses for clients. • Manage the Press Office at the Fancy Food Shows, from set-up to supervising temporary staff to working with the media; manage the press list; advise members on increasing their presence in the press; validate press credentials. • Represent the NASFT at industry conferences and trade shows. To perform this job effectively, a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing,Advertising, Journalism or English, and a minimum of 10 years’ experience working for a public relations firm or within a marketing or public relations department of a company, are required.
