For this RLC unlike any other, Region II RLC Chair Arielle Benjamin and Region III RLC Chair Jelece Morris came up with an apt theme: “Mission (im)Possible: Executing the P.A.S.S.I.O.N. from Within.” The conference focused on producing professional, action-oriented leaders equipped to lead and further the mission. In addition to the functional training workshops that the conference traditionally offers, various soft-skills workshops and team-building activities were scattered throughout the event to enable participants to learn transferable leadership skills useful not only for NSBE but for school and the workplace, as well. “This truly wasn’t about one region over another or which region was best…. This conference truly speaks volumes about the unity that is required to fulfill the Mission!” said NSBE National Vice Chair Kazeem B. Omidiji. Chapter leaders across both regions also felt unified. Twan Capehart, president of the Florida A&M/Florida State University chapter, stated, “A joint RLC should be the new model for NSBE. Networking opportunities are enhanced, fellowship is increased, and the competition is exciting. Two thumbs up!” Femi Sokoya, vice president of the NSBE chapter at the University of Maryland, College Park, said, “We were able to establish new friendships in Region III and rekindle

old ones in Region II.” It was clear this conference was an overwhelming success, and both regions are anticipating an even more amazing NSBE year!

Region iV
Region IV’s RLC was held August 12–15, 2010 in Terre Haute, Ind. Hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Region IV revisited the founding tradition of the Regional Leadership Conferences’ being held on university campuses. More rallied than ever, Chapter Executive Board members were eager to learn and came ready with open minds. After numerous engaging workshops and team-building exercises, members left with an understanding of their positions and a firm grasp on the objectives for the year and the tools with which to meet them. Chapters also built connections not only with other chapters but with Alumni, advisors, the Regional Executive Board and the National Executive Board, as well. Overall, RLC was a great success, one of the best ever, said many members who attended. Conference organizers were glad to fuel the enthusiasm of the RLC attendees and deliver the information the attendees needed in a manner that kept them asking for more.
