In The Spotlight Training and Recruitment Sector Amber Stevens talks to Henrik Fredga Managing Director, Uniflex TRAINING AND RECRUITMENT We talk to Sweden's top recruitment company Uniflex on taking the plunge and setting up their UK base here in Manchester, change management and staffing issues required for global success. “ we have had to adapt to cultural differences and new ways of working With 36 offices spread across Sweden and their global HQ in Stockholm Uniflex had naturally dominated the market in their home country, such quick growth meant it was only natural to develop a base overseas. Uniflex Managing Director Henrik Fredga explains “there are 4-5 other large recruitment companies but we are certainly one of the largest dealing within the industrial, construction and transport and logistics industry so with 36 offices around the country and over 3,500 employees we had naturally fulfilled our targets and potential so decided a year ago to expand overseas”. Uniflex chose the UK and Manchester in particular for a few reasons. “The UK appealed as the recruitment sector is an established and respected industry here, back home to some degree it's still taking off, due to Sweden's socialist past it was illegal to have an agency of this kind until the 50's so things take time. The second reason we chose the UK was that employment law issues are easy to work with and it's a good base for going into the rest of Europe. Also we needed a big city with a strong industrial history and a bright forward-moving future so Manchester came to mind”. All staff in the new UK office have been recruited from Manchester and surrounding areas and are working closely with the mother company in Sweden to offer the same level of service. ”
