NYLON - January 2008 - (Page 38) letter from the editor LIGHTS, CAMERA After I first met Mary-Kate Olsen, a lot of people asked me how I would describe the difference between her and her sister Ashley, who was on the cover of NYLON a little more than a year ago. My response was, “If Ashley was the Beatles, then MaryKate would be the Rolling Stones.” Obviously she has a very cool (and influential) personal style, but there’s a lot more to her than that: If you are ever fortunate enough to sit down and have a conversation with Mary-Kate, you’ll find her to be extremely smart, and very in tune with current pop culture and fashion. She’s also incredibly driven, which is impressive considering the fact that she’s in a position where most people would stop and coast on what they’ve already achieved. Check out the video of Mary-Kate at our cover shoot on nylonmag.com. In a lot of ways, it’s hard to believe that this is our December /January issue already—2007 has been fast and furious here at NYLON. I’m really psyched for the end of the year, though, because the new one, as always, will be full of all kinds of possibilities and adventures. See you in 2008.
