NYLON - January 2008 - (Page 40) par avion to my dear nylon, I’m writing to you wearing a vintage Beatles shirt and red lipstick. Your magazine has inspired me in more ways than one. I’ve been reading NYLON for at least six years. Thank you for your edgy style and gorgeous articles. I plan on moving to NYC soon. My goal is to work for you. Thank you, thank you, thank you. MWAH!!! CARLIE HAAS SAN FRANCISCO, CA dear nylon, First, I want to say that I loooove your magazine. Even though I’m an 18-year-old boy, I still find that your magazine has this really cool appeal to it—it reminds me of reading some hip mod chick’s diary or something, all of the best music and those choppy fashion photos that seem to jump off the page and remind of the suburban girls I grew up with. I dunno. I’m very into it. I remember the first time I picked one up in the ninth grade and no girls I knew actually read it (this was suburban Michigan) but I thought it was cool that our generation had one of those powerful magazines that knew what was good in fashion and music, like The Face or something. I’m gonna say keep doing what you do perfectly, and that’s making some cool-ass magazines. S T AY F R E S H , MARSALIS HIGGS SOUTHFIELD, MI dear nylon, I heart you! Every month I wait for you to come to my mailbox and you never let me down. Keep your cool NYLON, I know you won’t let me down! XOXO, EMILIE B A L L S T O N FA R E , N Y dear nylon, Every time I think you geniuses over at NYLON can’t outdo yourselves, you prove me wrong, so props on your best issue yet. I work at the UPS store, so I chat with the drivers every day. Dani Stahl rocked the UPS girl look; I’ve already convinced my favorite driver, Rick, to hook me up with a uniform so I can get it tailored in time for Halloween. You guys rule. XOXO, JENNIFER BUNDY JACKSONVILLE, FL dear nylon, I’ve always loved your private icon page. As someone whose style borders on costume-y at times, it’s a comfort to see such quirky (tongue-in-cheek, even) nostalgic icons to which I can aspire! BETSY NYC dear nylon, Your magazine is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. It can make my day turn from good to bad. I adore every page, it’s different and fresh. The fashion is absolutely incredible and every article is intriguing. It’s irresistible and so difficult to put down. I never get tired of reading it and I can read it over and over again and still get something new out of it. You always suggest amazing music and new artists, I even have a playlist on my iPod of all the songs and artists you recommended. Don’t change, cheers to NYLON.
