NYLON - January 2008 - (Page 62) Lingerie dressing was one of the biggest trends to emerge from the spring collections, boding well for the success of the Paris-born, New Yorkbased, intimates designer, Sophie Simmons. Her line, Dessous—French for “underneath”, is hardly overtly sexy. “I have an old fashioned understanding of lingerie,” says Simmons, who grew up in the City of Lights, where she was influenced by the camisoles worn by her mother and grandmother. For her own line, Simmons embroiders delicate peony-shaped pieces of tulle onto Italian cotton chemises, panties, bras, sleep shorts, and tees. Other details, like cross-back straps and keyhole cutouts, make these intimates the kind you secretly want to step out in.
