NYLON - January 2009 - (Page 112) 2009: a space odyssey What do gaming and fashion aficionados have in common? Well, this spring both will likely be clamoring to get their hands on Giles Deacon’s oversized, Pepto-pink helmets inspired by Ms. Pac-Man. Deacon’s futuristic collection of acid brights, hypnotic patterns, and high-tech fabrics—like quilted lamé and PVC—was inspired by the ’80s video game icon. And while our version of Ms. Pac-Man may be dressed for the future, her makeup is rooted firmly in the past. Take a cue from the beautiful black-and-white graphics of William Klein’s cult fashion flick Qui Êtes-Vous, Polly Maggoo?, and let your eyes speak the loudest. That means Sharpie-thick, winged-out liner, shimmering shadows in icy white and baby pink, and two sets of false lashes (one for the top and one for the bottom). Helmet head has never looked so hot. photographed by matthew kristall STYLIST: MICHELLE RENEAU. HAIR: ANTHONY CAMPBELL FOR CUTLER/REDKEN USING CUTLER VOLUME SPRAY. MAKEUP: DANIEL MARTIN FOR LANCÔME.
