NYLON - January 2009 - (Page 48) UNDER COVER: Lily Allen is known for her spontaneity, and, for her first NYLON cover shoot, she didn’t disappoint. Having arrived early at the London's Spring Studios, Allen decided to get her shoulder-length hair cut into a shaggy bob. The singer brought her own iPod, and danced around to the Cure and Roxy Music in between shots—but when a song from her new album, It’s Not Me, It’s You, came on, she dashed out from behind the camera to quickly change the track, endearingly embarrassed. Fashion-wise, though, there was no second-guessing her: “Lily has her own style and personality. I just wanted to enhance what she already possesses,” says stylist Maria Serra, who outfitted her in a Stella McCartney dress and a Tao Comme des Garçons top (both of which Allen wanted to buy). Of course, we did give her look a NYLON spin: she wore photographer and editor-in-chief Marvin Scott Jarrett’s signature red flannel for some of the photos—literally, right off his back. lily allen beauty note With her new dark hair color (remember that pink?), Allen could pull off a heavily lined eye with silver shadow.
