At the time, Karan’s vision for her urban-inspired diffusion label revolved around “the individuality and eclecticism of New York City.” Two decades later, that vision has endured. DKNY, which Karan once referred to as “the pizza to the collection’s caviar,” is turning 20 and to celebrate, the company is teaming up with Levi’s for the spring ’09 collection. With so many collaborations transpiring in the world of fashion, it’s hard to decipher which ones are worthy, but this pairing is a perfect fit. The collection features three silhouettes: the wide leg, the skinny, and the boyfriend (pictured). Each style comes in a range of washes, such as the inky Rivington, the indigo Schiller, and a black and white rinse—all of which can be dressed up or down. These iconic jeans are as good as a collaboration can get.
