NYLON Magazine - September 2007 - (Page 50) behind the scenes UNDER COVER: EVAN RACHEL WOOD Evan Rachel Wood showed up for our September cover shoot alone, wearing a black satin Bebe trenchcoat, white vintage cateye sunglasses, and a pair of stacked mary jane heels that looked like Chloé, but were in fact Steve Madden (for the record, Wood owns both versions). With her lanky figure, up-for-anything attitude, and ease being in front of the camera, Wood was a dream both to style and shoot. The clothing, described by stylist Aya T. Kanai as part ’60s retro, part goth, looked particularly amazing against the psychedelic illustrated backdrops created especially for the occasion by Karen Combs. Though the soundtrack of the day was revolving, when Kanai brought out a pair of bunny ears for one shot, Wood insisted on playing her boyfriend Marilyn Manson’s song “Are You the Rabbit?” And his name came up many more times. Turns out Manson owns a pair of Chanel driving gloves identical to the ones on our cover, and a number of pants as skintight as the gold Just Cavallis we put her in––Wood confided that she helps him peel them off after his performances. BEAUTY NOTE: Nothing screams ’60s screen siren quite like an eye precisely painted with a silky, jet black liquid liner, loaded with inky mascara, and paired with a matte, nearly nude-colored lip. And Wood’s alabaster complexion created the ideal canvas for the vintage look. FOR EVAN’S LOOK TRY: Teint Innocence Naturally Luminous Fluid Makeup in Gentle Ivory, Poudre Douce Blush in Peche Tendre, Inimitable Mascara in Black, Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Black, and Rouge Allure Lipstick in Delicate.
