NYLON - September 2008 - (Page 52) par avion PAUL REUBENS’ FAVORITE TV MOMENT “I haven’t seen this episode since I was a kid, but there was an I Love Lucy episode where Lucy mails a letter, and she’s with Ethel, and just as she drops the letter, Ethel says something to indicate that the letter is wrong. For the rest of the episode, Lucy tries to get the letter out. I’m not positive, but I think by the end, she’s inside the mailbox. The reason that I really love that moment is that, 10,000 times since I’ve seen that as a kid, I’ve had that same feeling of terror when I leave people voicemails. Sometimes I leave someone a message, and I’m like ‘Oh, noooo. How can I go to their house and erase that?’ And I always think of that episode, because it was the old-school version of the ‘Waa-waa, too late’ moment.” dear nylon, So getting the May issue of NYLON was pretty sweet, then I saw Nick Cave’s name on the cover! I almost had a heart attack when I saw it; I adore that man! Nick Cave is my idol. I really loved the interview. He truly is an original and I was ecstatic when I read he “has another book forming in the back of his mind” and that Grinderman are going to make a new album. It’s about damn time a magazine aimed at a younger audience featured independent musicians with real talent who’ve made an impact on music. Keep those interviews coming! CAROLINE HALLAM WASHINGTON, D.C. dear nylon, As a fairly new reader, I am wowed by your originality. This magazine has instantly become one of my favorites because it’s eclectic, eccentric, unique spreads, stories and perspectives. You definitely make me want to pursue my dream as a designer. Keep up the awesome work! CAIT G. DACULA, GA dear nylon, I am just a dab disappointed that you haven’t asked Hayley Williams from Paramore to do some kind of interview. She is so down-to-earth, sings so, so good and has the coolest hair style of anyone out there. I still totally adore your magazine. Ever since I’ve read and followed some of the clothing trends in your magazine, I’ve been getting non-stop compliments. And, if by any chance this gets published, I would like to tell all the girls out there to please stop wearing baby blue metallic eyeshadow. It’s ugly! ELIZABETH NORIA R E D B L U F F, C A dear nylon, Overall, fashion this year sucks—it’s uninspired and boring. But you have the magic touch! The way you style your editorials and the miniature photo shoots that feature smaller designers’ clothes are as fantastic as ever. Keep up the good work!
