NYLON - September 2008 - (Page 54) behind the scenes UNDER COVER: 90210 When NYLON heard that ‘America’s Favorite Zip Code’ was being revisited, we couldn’t resist featuring new female stars Shenae Grimes, AnnaLynne McCord, and Jessica Stroup on our cover before the show even premiered (it starts September 2nd). It’s 90210, after all! Stroup (The Hills Have Eyes II) was featured in our Young Hollywood issue this spring, and together with Grimes (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and McCord (Nip/Tuck), the girls make a killer trio. Such was evident at the shoot at Pier 59 Studios in Santa Monica, where stylist Cher Coulter was inspired more by London than Los Angeles. “I remember watching Beverly Hills, 90210 as a kid and thinking they were so rich and lucky, so I wanted to make them super posh,” she says. “Of course, in a sexy, cool, NYLON way.” When the show’s co-executive producer, Gabe Sachs (Freaks and Geeks), dropped by, the girls were dancing to Brit rockers Hot Chip: Grimes in gold metallic Topshop jeans, Stroup in tweed Ralph Lauren jodhpurs, and McCord in a black-and-blue Topshop bustier dress and pink Chanel wellies. They were also vamping for the camera like pros—photographer Marvin Scott Jarrett was impressed: “They hadn’t even started filming the show yet!” BEAUTY NOTE: Grimes was given rosy cheeks and dabs of lip gloss, McCord’s locks were tousled and teased, and Stroup’s blue doe-shaped eyes were lined with charcoal. At one point, we even caught the trio touching up each other’s makeup when they thought no one was looking. FOR THEIR LOOK TRY: Glam’Eyes Mascara in Black, Mineral Powder Foundation in Soft Beige, Colour Rush Duo Eyeshadow in Peach Passion, Mousse Blush in Frozen Cherry, Mousse Bronzer, Exagerrate Eye Definer in Noir, Lasting Finish Lipstick in Vintage, and Shock Gloss in Indecent.
