NYLON - October 2007 - (Page 50) 2 1 3 10 SCOUT’S HONOR 4 5 still lifes: chika kobari. troop beverly hills still courtesy of everett collection. Our Brownie experience was never this exciting: In Troop Beverly Hills (1989), when posh housewife Phyllis Nefler (played by a red-headed, post-Cheers Shelley Long) decides to take a troop of Wilderness Girls—including Jenny Lewis as Nefler’s daughter, Tori Spelling, and Kellie Martin from Life Goes On— under her well-manicured wing, they get more than they bargained for. To distract herself from her ongoing divorce from her lawyer husband, played by Craig T. Nelson, Nefler throws herself into helping her troopers best their rivals, the evil, by-the-book Red Feathers. Troop Beverly Hills’ motto was “When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping!” and their woodsy attire proved just how true that is—and, more importantly, that khaki and camo shouldn’t be reserved just for those trying to earn patches. 9 private icon: troop beverly hills 1.feathers, priceless; 2. hat by karen walker, $198; 3. canteen by eddie bauer, $19.50; 4. skirt by lacoste, $155; 5. vintage patches from what comes around goes around, $35 each; 6. backpack by element, $50; 7. sunglasses by ray-ban, $99; 8. boot by marc by marc jacobs, $385; 9. jodhpurs by ralph lauren blue label, $145; 10. sweater by gap, $39.50, and shirt by diesel, $400. 6 7 8
