NYLON - October 2007 - (Page 88) THAT GIRL DOUBLE BUBBLE DON’T BE SURPRISED IF THESE PRODUCTS ACHIEVE ICONIC STATUS. BY FIORELLA VALDESOLO. ILLUSTRATION BY SINGULAR SENSATION I’ve been asked if I’ve found it countless times (which usually prompts some variation of a cringe). Film and television have explored the concept at length. And it’s a hotbutton topic for that breed of women’s magazines that get off on dissecting every supposed misstep with the opposite sex. The idea of “the one” is far reaching to say the least. So far in fact that now it has arrived in the world of beauty. Dolce and Gabbana, the Italian stallions responsible for outfitting some of the world’s foxiest ladies from Madonna to Monica Bellucci, claim to have found (and bottled) the elusive “one.” Their new fragrance, aptly titled the one, is a sultry blend of bergamot, lychee, lily, and plum that comes housed in a gleaming gold bottle. And if the scent wasn’t convincing enough, perhaps the face behind it—that leggy Amazonian herself, Miss Bundchen—will prove that this is the only one that you want. D&G THE ONE EAU DE PARFUM, $82 FOR 2.5 OZ, AT SEPHORA. Do we judge by appearance? When it comes to beauty products, and often lovers, yes, we most certainly do. It may be shallow, but there is something satisfying about beautiful things on your bathroom counter, or latched onto your arm. And thankfully, in some instances good looks and good quality are found within the same partner, er, product. Such is the case with Soap & Glory, the new beauty brand from famed Bliss founder Marcia Kilgore. The line, meant to create “fun while you foam,” includes eight skin-friendly products each with a clever name and pepto-colored packaging with vintage tabloid-style graphics. The Flake Away scrub will effectively banish those pesky upper arm bumps, and the Calm One Calm All bath soak is a grown-up version of Mr. Bubbles. Best of all nothing exceeds the 10 dollar mark, proof that even cheapos sometimes get lucky. SOAP & GLORY CALM ONE CALM ALL, $9.99, AT TARGET.
