THOMPSON’S LAKE STATE PARK Thompson’s Lake State Park, just about 17 miles south of Albany, encompasses 125 acres of waterfront, forests and open space in the mountains near the Helderberg Escarpment. Campers find quiet and seclusion amidst the wooded campsites at the park. You can swim, boat, fish, hike nature trails, enjoy kids playing on the playground or compete in a friendly game of volleyball or horseshoes. The park’s Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center provides a variety of interesting exhibits and interactive environmental programs for children.
