I will ventilate closed areas in my boat before I start my motor. I will check my fuel supply before starting to be sure that it is ample for my boating needs. I will keep bilges and decks clean. I will obey the rules of the road. I will clean my boat and trailer each time I take my boat out on the water. I will learn to use navigation aids to guide me. I will not hurry or be careless. I will not allow horseplay on my boat. I will see that all passengers who cannot swim wear PFDs. I will heed weather warnings. I will not use my boat in dangerous or off-limit waters at any time. I will use caution when boating in areas that are not familiar to me. I will not operate my boat near swimmers. I will respect the rights of others. I will keep my wake down. I will inform others of where I plan to go and when I expect to return. 87
