ONS Connect - January 2008 - (Page 30) 2007 ONS Institutes of Learning Has Record Turnout o r e t h a n 1,700 nurses headed to Chicago, IL, for the ONS Eighth Annual Institutes of Learning (IOL) and found a one-of-a-kind educational experience that provided practical, hands-on knowledge. The 2007 conference had the highest attendance to date—42% higher than the 2006 IOL. The conference offered 11.5 continuing nursing education (CNE) credits for the interactive miniinstitutes and 90-minute open sessions, where indepth information was given on issues affecting everyday practice. For more information or to order recordings of the M sessions, visit www.ons.org/meetings/ iol07/index.shtml. IOL attendees also took advantage of the ONS Evaluation Center, which allows participants to get their conference CNE certificate immediately upon submitting the evaluation. It also houses a transcript of the user’s ONS-provided CNE programs, which can be printed as needed. Feedback on the new system has been positive, and it will continue to be used future conferences. More than 200 volunteers took care of the local arrangements. They staffed a concierge table to welcome attendees with goodies and provided fun facts about Chicago. Among those goodies were thank-you cards that children from the St. Mary of Gostyn Jr. and Sr. High Youth Ministry made for the nurses attending IOL. ✱ Do You Enjoy Reporting and Writing?
