Cancer Trends Progress Report 2007 Update (http://progressreport.cancer .gov), published by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), includes key measures of progress along the cancer control continuum and uses national trend data to illustrate where advancements have been made. The 2007 Cancer Facts and Figures from the American Cancer Society (ACS) can be found at www.cancer.org/doc root/STT/STT_0.asp. ACS and NCI have made major improvements in the new model to include use of data from a much larger percentage of the U.S. population, allowance for geographic variation in cancer incidence, adjust ment for delays in report ing, and the inclusion of many sociodemographic, medical facility, lifestyle, and cancer screening be havior variables. The Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results Cancer Statistics Review at www .seer.cancer.gov/statistics, published by the NCI, details the most recent can cer incidence, mortality, survival, preva lence, and lifetime risk data.
